Description
In the bag, it was astonishing to find rare documents about coffee copied from many museums and libraries of the world including the National Library of France, the Library of Congress, the British Library and anonymous endless scraps. Since I found that bag, I was struck by coffee and then learnt to walk. So, I walked through historic coffee houses in Hijaz, Cairo, Damascus, Istanbul, Vienna, London, Paris, Berlin, San Francisco, Boston, New York and capital cities of the Vikings. I summitted the mountain of coffee as a reader and a passionate lover, then a pupil in its schools, a waiter on short holidays, a roasting tutor, and walked some more into the cafes of the whole universe! During that several-year trip, coffee roasted my insides, as Balzac says. In that trip, I studied the chemistry of coffee and water. I read the history of love and war, doctrines and philosophy, geographic discoveries, revolutions, music and arts associated with coffee. I read everything to learn and understand coffee, and when I knew everything, I realized that no one can ever know coffee.
