Description
Adhatoda vasika :The herb is used as a relieving agent for irritable cough due to its soothing action on the nerve and by liquefying the sputum, which makes expectoration easier. The leaves and roots are mainly used in treating bronchitis, cold and whooping cough. The herb contains the pyrroquinazoline alkaloids including vasicine. The alkaloids present in the plant shows significant protection against allergen-induced bronchical obstruction. The whole plant in general acts as sedative, expectorant, antispasmodic, antiseptic. The roots and leaves are mainly used in treating bronchitis, cold and whooping cough. Glycyrrhiza glabra :Licorice is believed to possess medicinal properties like expectorant, demulcent, spasmolytic, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic and act as mild laxative. Licorice relieves oral inflammation, dry coughs, bronchitis and mouth ulcers. Solanum trilobatum :Solanum Trilobatum were found to possess anti inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. The herb is very effective in treating cold and cough. It also cures throat congestion. The herb can also be used in treating various respiratory diseases. Solanum xanthocarpum :Used as an expectorant in cough. The juice of the berries is used in curing sore throat, bronchitis, antihistamine, antiallergic.
