The story begins when the narrator meets a young woman in an English airport. The story is mostly told by the hero who confuses the face of the young woman with her mother's, Wafaa, as the latter was his former lover. The face of the young woman reminds him of her mother's, and her memory takes him back to the years they spent together in Copper Avenue, in the closed rooms they hid in to love each other, dream, and engage in heated debates...
